teenagers...

Another reason I am totally fed up with teenagers. What's with the language? Not that I run into gobs of profanity or anything (at least among the more frequently met ones) but I have just about had it with the crudity. Why does this have to be a test for how cool or mature you are? Can't they see how little sense that makes? Real men control their emotions in a crisis (theoretically) and don't resort to profanity because they just can't take it anymore. That's a weakling's way out. As for the girls, it would be nice if they could see how manifestly unattractive it is, but unfortunately Magaret Sanger sowed her seeds very well indeed. It's a pity they can't see that it is more demeaning to themselves than anything else. Not only does it make them appear uncultured, vulgar, and vapid, it carries across the image of an insecure and and altogether unintelligent person. Is this really what you want to be projecting here, people? It's the same with idiot teenage boys (and one or two girls I know) who think it's hilarious to be racist. Of course they aren't really racist anymore than they actually mean to damn anything to hell. Racist humor (when overused, which is basically the only way it comes anymore) is horribly demeaning, but not necessarily to the racial groups targeted. The person who comes off worst in the process is the comedian himself. You shouldn't behave like a neanderthal because you ought to care what direction your life takes. Which is inevitably affected by popular perception of yourself. This isn't a hard one...

"In October 1992, the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, which has Senate oversight responsibility for the Export Administration Act (EAA), held an inquiry into the U.S. export policy to Iraq prior to the Persian Gulf War. During that hearing it was learned that U.N. inspectors identified many U.S.- manufactured items exported pursuant to licenses issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce that were used to further Iraq's chemical and nuclear weapons development and missile delivery system development programs"

sheesh, i thought that this post was your one on underage drinking, so i didnt read it again
then i did, and hey, very very well said

i got a little irritated that would said that men should control their emotions, and thus not curse; but for women, it was about being attractive ... i know you probably meant both points to hold for both sexes, but you need to be careful

see, sure, men need to control their emotions. but this usually is because often, lack of control can result in violence - a stereotype not often identified with women, and one that is fairly accurate
women too, need to control themselves, but i think thats more because the stereotype of women being more 'talkers and backstabbers' vs 'lets go outside and settle this' is also, sadly, based in reality.
women and men can turn language into a weapon, but ive personally found that this happens more often with females. when it comes to sheer verbal cruelty, i probably could proabably evicerate my male friends ... for the most part. and i think quite a few of my girlfriends would be able to do the same ... i dont think thats really what you were talking about but it was on my mind

so language ... yeah, i think its mostly just a trend, a cool factor, and also just desensitization. i doubt many people stop and think "hmm, ill say this cos then i can sit with the in-crowd at lunch"

and when it comes to rascism.
well, you've been hearing me rant about it for years.
holla achya, and all that.

idk. with women i guess it's just that cursing didn't use to be a feminine characteristic until "feminism" when girls started to get brainwashed with the idea that everything about being a woman is terrible and you'll only ever be a real person if you walk, talk, dress, and behave like a man.

i know what you're saying, its the feminist in me getting irritated that an argument against women cursing is that its "unfeminine"
women shouldnt curse for the exact same reasons men dont curse - there is a power and beauty in words that demands respect and reverence.
i feel that trying to add on to that the argument that its unattractive, detracts from the power of the original argument.

the first is pretty much straight up truth, the second ... well, its your opinion, and if someone disagrees with you, you really dont have much to counter with.
stick with whats strong.

si, si, tu tienes razon. However, I don't put a whole lot of thought into these things. Bee gets into my bonnet, I sit down, slam something out, and toddle off. hoping that you'll understand...
