The Graveyard Book

Neil Giaman is about 100 pages into his next children's book, The Graveyard Book, according to his blog. He writes it by hand in an unlined Venitian notebook, which I think is cool. Above is a picture. You can see him reading a chunk of it on YouTube here.

By hand is one thing. I could see that being cool. (If I've got a writing block, trying the "old-fashioned" approach can be very helpful.)

But unlined?

That's crazy talk.

I can't see how people can write their novels by hand. Several authors seem to prefer it though. I do only when I can't get access to the computer. Most of the time I can't stand how much slower writing is than typing. My mind leaves my hand behind.
